Tairawhiti Whenua CEO, Hilton Collier, Joins Rural Roundup Podcast for Annual Monthly Segment

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tairāwhiti Whenua Charitable Trust has confirmed a new partnership with the Rural Roundup podcast, with CEO Hilton Collier contributing a dedicated monthly segment over the next 12 months.

This regular feature will provide practical insights into the big issues facing rural communities in Tairāwhiti and beyond, from forestry and farming practices to soil health, water management, and climate resilience. It will also highlight the Trust’s wider vision for sustainable land use and intergenerational wellbeing. Each episode is designed to cut through complexity and share kōrero that connects directly to life on the whenua.

Hilton Collier says the collaboration is about creating the space for meaningful rural conversations:

“Our focus at Tairāwhiti Whenua is on enabling landowners and whānau to make the most of their whenua in ways that are sustainable, productive, and culturally grounded. Rural Roundup gives us an opportunity to share knowledge, spark ideas, and support rural leaders with kōrero that’s useful at the kitchen table, the boardroom, and the farm gate.”

Collier also acknowledged the privilege of working alongside host Andy Thompson:

“Andy has a great way of connecting with rural audiences, he asks the right questions, keeps it real, and brings energy to the kōrero. It’s a privilege to be able to share our whakaaro and kaupapa on his show.”

The monthly segment will showcase not just policy updates or technical advice, but also real stories from the land, celebrating local successes, exploring innovative practices, and weaving together perspectives from both science and mātauranga Māori. By highlighting what is working in Tairāwhiti, the series aims to provide inspiration and practical takeaways for rural leaders across Aotearoa.

This partnership underscores Tairāwhiti Whenua’s commitment to strengthening whānau, supporting rural economies, and shaping land management approaches that deliver benefits today and for generations to come.

The first podcast was released on Monday 22nd September with Hilton speaking about Tairāwhiti Whenua, who we are and what we do.
